Week 3

Lately in class we have been talking a lot about dominance. The definition of dominant is the most prominent shape or object in a composition, usually in position, color, or size. As you tell us in class you do not just want something similar but a little bigger, you want it exaggerated.
I found a picture of different colored dots made into a dominant circle which composite a very dominant object. I really enjoy the different colors because they are bright and cheerful to look at. It also is interesting how the artist decided to group the dots together in the middle of the piece of artwork.
I find it hard to sometimes make something very exaggerated in a piece. Especially since you make the art then think, Is this too small? Which usually the answer is yes and it can be very hard to try to incorporate all the different things with such an exaggerated item.
That is the thing I am having some trouble with. I decided it can be easier if you just start off with the exaggerated object and then down grade the others to much smaller scales. I really think it is helpful and hopefully will get more used to using the exaggerated object in some of my projects when it is needed.
